Pretty Packages

Pretty Packages Who would not wish to receive one of these beautiful gifts? You won't believe what some of those items were before we repurposed them into gift wrap.

From: 6-Pack Carrier Those 6-pack holders you're always dumping in the recycling bin? Save them! You merely require one material to repurpose them in a useful organizer for a thoughtful gift.

To: Awesome Art Kit A portable art kit makes the perfect gift for a budding artist. Go from 6-pack holder to slick artwork supply carrier simply by painting the cardboard with two coats of black craft paint. You might also spray paint it. Top off the gift with an inspirational tag. So skip the gift basket or bag the receiver will probably throw away and give a gift that is not only thoughtful but functional too.

From: Old Shirt On your next closet cleanout, store old shirts that are not in a condition to donate perhaps because they have a hole or stain, particularly if it is not on the sleeves. A shirt sleeve could be your alternative for how to wrap oddly-shaped presents.

To: No-Sew Wine Wrap A bottle of wine is a common don't-know-what-else-to-get gift, but with inventive demonstration, it is going to seem much more thoughtful even if it is a last-minute buy. To produce the wine wrap -- a kids' size top works best -- cut a sleeve about an inch from the shoulder seam. Twist the sleeve inside out, trim if desired and secure the cut end with a rubber band. Flip the sleeve right-side out and slip the bottle in the sleeve. The excess fabric around the rubber band will fit in the base indentation that most bottles have and will rest levelly. Finish with a decorative bow.

From: Coffee Canister Food containers such as coffee canisters or large soup cans are also worth saving, especially ones with plastic lids! Clean out the interior and get creative with how you change them into specific gift boxes.

To: Simple Spa Kit To transform a coffee canister in an cute spa kit, we coated the could with marble-print adhesive paper and filled it with hot tub things such as a face mask, nail polish, lotion and white crinkle paper for padding. Our favourite part of the gift is that the loofah bow. We used a craft knife to cut a small "x" in the center of the lid, then poked the loofah string through and tied a knot. The lucky person who receives this gift won't ever know it was full of coffee beans.

From: Aluminum Foil Box Do you understand exactly what fits perfectly in boxes that hold aluminum foil, plastic wrap and wax paper? Cookies!

To: Cookie Keeper Whether you are making homemade cookies or just needing to regrow store-bought ones, finding a creative way to gift cookies is obviously a challenge, particularly around the holiday season. If the box has a sharp edge for ripping, remove carefully prior to wrap. Cover with your choice of decorative wrap paper, insert some tissue paper, wax paper and, finally, the biscuits. Tie a sparkly ribbon round the center. Notice: Be sure to step forward to be sure the size of your box and biscuits match.

From: Grocery Bags If you keep grocery bags, you already have the perfect wrap paper substitute. These easy-to-find brown bags work great in a pinch if you understand you forgot to buy gift wrap right in front of a party or you run from decorative paper on Christmas Eve.

To: Pretty Brown Paper Packages Impress your friends and family with gift wrap that looks like a million bucks - and definitely not trash! By cutting the bags and employing the blank inside as your paper, you attain the appearance of butcher or kraft paper that lots of people pay for, with something you probably already have. Then you have a blank background to decorate however you choose. Keep it simple with just a bow. Use stamps to make repeating patterns to mimic store-bought paper. Apply paint in a splatter technique for an artistic look. Attach dried or fresh greenery or flowers for an elegant touch. Or top it off with a personalized gift tag.

From: Empty Shoebox Rather than waiting until the holidays to purchase gift boxes in bulk, save shoeboxes throughout the year.

To: Reusable, Chic Gift Box Pick your favourite paper and then wrap the lid and bottom separately. To keep the lid secure, attach a button and series. In case you've got a large enough needle, you can sew the button, or the simpler choice, use a craft brad to puncture a hole in the lid and glue the button into the brad. The person receiving this gift might adore the box up to the true gift.

From: Paper Towel Rolls Another item you likely recycle frequently, paper towel rolls can help solve another common gift wrapping issue: how to creatively gift money.

To: Cash-Holding Poppers To make those poppers, cut two pieces of paper towel roll around two inches wide. Lay both, about half-inch apart, on top of a couple pieces of tissue paper. Roll both bits like a rolling pin and tape paper to fasten. Collect 1 end of this tissue paper and tie with string. Then slip a roll of money in the open end, gather tissue paper on the other end and tie with string. For to the money, hold all of the popper, and twist and pull apart in the same moment.

From: Old Sock If you get a hole at the toe or heel or shed among these socks out of one of your favourite pairs, do not throw them out! The sock could eventually be a simple way to wrap a little present.

To: One-of-a-Kind Jewelry Box Make a cute and cozy package for a jewelry box such as this one by cutting off the top of your favorite old (but washed!) sock. To fasten the floor, flip sock inside out, staple the end and then reverse right-side out. Place small box inside and tie with a ribbon or string, like this black velvet one.

From: Used Candle Container Chances are you have many used candles that have exhausted their good-smelling aromas but you hate to throw off since the container is decorative or could be useful for something. Before you toss that jar candle, consider repurposing it as a present. To wash, heat up your candle on a candle warmer, pour any residual wax and wash with soap and warm water. If your candle just has a little bit of wax left, you may even place the candle in the freezer overnight. The wax will crack into a few pieces that you could ditch. With larger candles, we discovered that the melting method works best.

To: Cocktail Kit The jar candle is now prepared to hold the ingredients of your favourite cocktail, like a Moscow Mule. Include a mini can of ginger beer, a plane bottle of vodka, a lime, stir stick and decorate straw. Wrap up with clear cellophane and top off with a bow and gift tag.
